The Research-Based Master's Program (MBR) is a program that provides opportunities for fast track, PMDSU, and regular partnership students to continue their master's degree education with compulsory, elective, and research-based research topics to achieve the program's educational objectives.
Implementation of a Structured and Independent Research-Based Program
ORIENTATION
- Research-based scientific and scientific abilities in the Doctoral Program level
- Creativity, independent research and synthesis ability
- Publication of international journals (required) or national journals if the research does not reach maximum results
CRITERIA
- Fulfill the general requirements for a master's degree at ITB
- Have a research background or have good academic competence with the recommendation of the intended master's supervisor candidate
- An appropriate/linear scientific field is a requirement for prospective students who have just graduated with a bachelor's degree (without experience) who have the same capabilities
- For prospective students who already have relevant research or work experience outside the field of undergraduate scholarship, they are allowed to register for the MBR program that is in accordance with the scientific field related to the experience in question.

The Master’s Program of the BANDUNG INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY has obtained accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and is an educational program with a degree after the Bachelor Program. The ITB Master’s Program has been held for 36 years and its management is under the ITB Postgraduate School. Until now the master's education program at ITB has produced more than 28,883 master's graduates from various study programs.
The purpose of the Master’s Program Education is to increase the level of mastery of knowledge and abilities that have been obtained by participants during undergraduate education, so that they are more active and play a role, both in mastering their knowledge and in its application. To achieve this goal, although students are open to choosing one particular field, mastery of overall program knowledge is maintained so that graduates can still move agilely within their scope of work.
The ITB Master's program focuses on:
- Scientific in nature, with an emphasis on the ability to develop knowledge further,
- Applied orientation, with an emphasis on the ability to apply knowledge professionally.
The Master's education program is designed with a minimum academic load of 36 credits, to be completed within 4 semesters (2 years). The normal academic load in each semester ranges from 9 credits to 12 credits, so the entire program can be completed in less than 4 semesters.
